21-Day Kalaripayattu Gurukulam Immersion

Private or group

The experience

You'll live at the kalari for three weeks, training twice a day the way Anandan's long-term students do — building from meithari conditioning through stances, empty-hand combat, and finally the wooden and metal weapons that Kalaripayattu is famous for. This isn't a taster; by week three you're expected to be training other beginners alongside Anandan.

Why this matters

Real fluency in Kalaripayattu takes years, not hours — this immersion is the shortest path WRIKSH offers into training that actually changes how a body moves, and it keeps a working kalari financially able to keep teaching for free locally.

Cultural background

Traditional Kalaripayattu training followed a gurukulam model — students living with their teacher for years, progressing through body conditioning, weapons and eventually bare-hand combat (verumkai) only after the earlier stages were mastered.

Frequently asked

Is this a certification / teacher-training program?

It's a serious mastery-track immersion; a formal instructor certificate isn't issued, but graduates are invited back for advanced weapons training.

Can I join for less than 21 days?

No — the sequence is built to progress week over week, so we only take students for the full 21 days.
