A Day of Yoga & Pranayama

Private or group

The experience

You'll practice Hatha asana at sunrise with the Ganga a few steps away, move into pranayama breathing as the ghats fill up around you, and close with the same seated silence Devika ends every one of her sessions with. It's a single day, but enough to feel the difference between a gym yoga class and the real lineage behind it.

Why this matters

Rishikesh draws visitors for yoga, but most short visits only skim asana — this taster is built by a long-term local teacher to show the fuller practice, and directly supports her ongoing teaching.

Cultural background

Rishikesh has been a center of yoga and meditation for over a century, drawing teachers and students from the Sivananda, Ashtanga and Himalayan yogic traditions that still shape how it's taught along the riverbank today.

The most peaceful morning of my entire trip to India.

Devika actually explains the why behind each pose, not just the how.

Not a sight to see — a practice to enter.
