Over three days with Damodar's Mapusa troupe, you'll move between drumming, dance drills and float preparation, learning how Goa's biggest folk festival comes together ward by ward. On the final day, you'll walk a stretch of the actual procession route among dancers, drummers and painted floats.
Shigmo is Goa's largest folk festival, bringing together dozens of individual dance and music traditions — Ghode Modni, Goff, Mussoll and more — into one spring-long celebration across every taluka.
Held across the Hindu month of Phalgun, Shigmo processions move from ward to ward with drumming, dance and elaborate floats, marking the arrival of spring and paying tribute to local deities.
