Goa
Where a Portuguese church bell and a Konkani harvest song share a calendar.
Goa's culture runs on two calendars at once — Catholic feast days and Konkani harvest festivals — often celebrated by the same families in the same village square. Shigmo's spring processions and Sao Joao's well-jumping sit alongside Christmas and Carnival without much friction.
Kaavi art, a red-and-white line technique found on temple and church walls alike, is one of the few crafts that visually holds both traditions in a single frame.
Worth knowing
