Pranay Shelar (Bharggav)

Mardani Khel, the traditional Maratha martial art of swordsmanship, spear fighting and weapon combat, rooted in Maratha history.

Pranay Shelar, also known as Bharggav, trains students in Mardani Khel, the traditional martial art of the Maratha warriors. He began training at the age of 15 under martial arts instructors from Mumbai, Alibaug, Satara and Kolhapur, and went on to study Lathi-Kathi, sword fighting, Dandpatta, Vita and dagger combat, stick-blocking techniques, Mudgal training, mace fighting, wrestling and archery, alongside several modern martial arts. For nearly 15 years he has taught across Thane, Dadar, Dombivli and Kalyan, helping keep the martial heritage of the Marathas alive in a new generation of students. He has performed at programmes organised by the Government of Maharashtra, and his demonstrations of historical Maratha combat techniques have featured on All India Radio (Akashvani), ABP Majha, Mid-Day, BhaDiPa, Khabarbaat, Yuvagiri and a number of YouTube channels.
