Lost-wax metal casting of figures and animals by craftspeople of the Bastar region.
Understand
Dhokra casting is practised by artisan communities in Bastar and is one of India's oldest metal-casting traditions; Bastar dhokra carries a geographical-indication tag.
Artisans build a clay core, cover it with fine wax threads that form the design, coat it in clay, melt out the wax and pour in molten brass.
