The men wear the elaborate mask of the Kathakali characters (the pacha, the kathi, the kari, the thadi) and the embroidered silk costume. The dance is the classical Kathakali vocabulary. Music is the cenda and the maddalam of the Kerala classical-dance ensemble. Costume is the elaborate Kathakali silk costume with the painted mask.
