Understand

Where Veeragase comes from

Veeragase (Veerabhadra's dance) re-enacts the mythological fury of Veerabhadra, a fierce form of Shiva, and is performed by devotees as an act of devotion during temple festivals.

How it's practiced

Performers dress as Veerabhadra with elaborate costume and a sword, spinning and leaping to loud drumming until reaching a trance-like intensity.
