Mizo Solakia is the Mizo's lyrical women's dance, performed at the central cultural programmes of the state and at the regional Mizo community festivals. The dance is one of the documented women's dance traditions of the Mizo community and is performed by young women in coordinated steps to the Mizo song-cycle. The form is one of the lesser-documented but living traditions of the Mizo people and is regularly performed at the cultural programmes of the state.
Mizo Solakia is performed by young women of the Mizo community in a circle at the central courtyard of the village or at the open ground of the cultural festival. The women perform in coordinated steps to the song of the Solakia cycle and to the rhythm of the khuang (drum) and the small cymbals. The dance is gentle, with the small stepping rhythm of the Mizo tradition. Costume is the everyday Mizo dress — the puandum and the small regional head-cloth. Performances are at the courtyard and at the cultural programmes of the state.
