Silk sarees with ornate zari borders and pallus featuring peacocks and lotuses, from Paithan and Yeola.
Understand
Paithani takes its name from the town of Paithan near Aurangabad, and the craft continues there and in Yeola; it carries a geographical-indication tag.
Weavers use a tapestry technique on handlooms, interlocking coloured silk and zari threads by hand to build the motifs, so the design looks the same on both sides.
