Tribal wall painting in white on mud-coloured grounds, built from circles, triangles and lines.
Understand
Warli painting is the traditional art of the Warli community of the northern Sahyadri and Thane–Palghar region, painted on hut walls for weddings and harvests; it carries a geographical-indication tag.
Painters coat the wall with mud and cow dung, then paint figures of people, animals and village life with a white paste of rice flour, using a bamboo stick as a brush.
