Why you'll love it

  • A rare Indo-Portuguese craft few visitors ever try
  • Make and keep your own shell-and-porcelain panel
  • Small groups of 1–10, solo travellers welcome
  • Morning or afternoon slots, Monday to Saturday

What you'll do

Embrechados is a decorative craft Goa inherited from Portugal and made its own: patterns pressed into lime plaster using seashells, pebbles and shards of broken porcelain. You'll spot it on old church façades, garden grottos and the walls of grand Goan houses — and almost nobody still makes it.

At CIPA in Panjim you'll learn how the motifs are laid out and set, then build a small panel of your own. It's slow, absorbing work and a lovely souvenir — something you made, in a style you won't find in a shop.
